21 Remarkable Uses of Jasmine Essential Oil

Jasmine Essential Oil has many benefits for our emotional and physical health and well-being. Its beneficial properties include: antidepressant, antispasmodic, expectorant, sedative, aphrodisiac and antiseptic.

This oil is made from jasmine flowers. It has an almost intoxicating fragrance. There are so many ways to enjoy this oil. I love that it smells amazing and has medicinal properties. Use it as a wonderful, floral perfume while you take advantage of all of its remarkable uses to improve your health.

1. Fight Fungal Infections

Apply jasmine essential oil to sites of fungal infections for quick healing. This oil often doesn’t need to be diluted with a carrier oil. Just put a few drops on your fingers and massage it into the affected area. The fungal infection should clear up within 2 weeks. Be sure to wash your clothes thoroughly to kill the fungal spores there, too. Put 5 to 10 drops of jasmine EO into your laundry along with your favorite detergent or make your own.

Mix 5 to 6 drops in 1 cup of warm water, put the mixture into a spray bottle and thoroughly spray your sneakers if you are fighting athlete’s foot. After the fungal infection clears up, mix a few drops of jasmine EO into your favorite lotion and use it as a moisturizer to keep the fungus from coming back.

2. Prevent Viral Infections

Mix 5 to 10 drops of jasmine essential oil into your favorite hand lotion and use it as a hand sanitizer. You can make the mixture stronger, or even use it straight from the bottle, too. Run a diffuser with 2 to 3 drops of jasmine oil to kill viruses in the air and fill the room with its wonderful fragrance.

3. Prevent Bacterial Infections

Apply jasmine EO to cuts, sores and abrasions to prevent or help cure bacterial infections. Put a few drops on your fingertips or a cotton swab and put it right on the sore after washing with a mild soap. You can use it several times a day.

4. Reduce Nasal and Chest Congestion

Practice jasmine essential oil aromatherapy to clear up nasal and chest congestion. Put 2 to 3 drops in your diffuser and run it for 30 to 60 minutes. You can also take a few deep inhales of the oil vapors directly from the bottle. You will be amazed at how quickly your sinus and chest congestion clears up. This oil is a remarkable expectorant. Be sure to drink plenty of water, too, so the phlegm can be easily eliminated. For a great vapor rub, mix a few drops of jasmine and eucalyptus essential oil into 1 tablespoon of coconut oil.

*Jasmine absolute or pure jasmine oil is very expensive due to the difficult extraction process. Because of this, jasmine essential oil is often already blended with argan or some other carrier oil.*

5. Alleviate Inflammation

Massage jasmine EO into any inflamed areas for relief. Its anti-inflammatory properties will provide fast relief. You can use it straight or mix it into a carrier oil, if you prefer. Coconut oil is great for this but any carrier oil will do. Jasmine aromatherapy helps reduce inflammation, too. The anti-inflammatory properties get into your blood stream through your sinuses.

6. Soothe Sore Muscles

Massage jasmine essential oil into sore muscles for quick relief. It will quickly reduce the pain and inflammation. I love coconut oil for this with a few drops of argan oil. Mix 1 tablespoon of coconut oil with 5 or 6 drops of argan oil then add 3 to 5 drops of jasmine oil. The coconut oil has a great consistency for massage and the argan oil speeds up absorption.

7. Stop Muscle Spasms

Use jasmine oil to get relief from muscle cramps and spasms. As soon as you begin to feel a cramp or spasm coming on, massage the oil into the muscle. It is a natural antispasmodic that will stop the spasm quickly. Jasmine’s anti-inflammatory properties will also prevent inflammation and soreness.

8. Speed Bruise Healing

Gently apply jasmine essential oil to bruises to speed healing. You can apply it several times a day.

9. Alleviate Acne

Mix 2 to 3 drops of jasmine essential oil into 1 teaspoon of a light carrier oil and use this blend to moisturize acne-prone skin. You can also add jasmine oil to your favorite facial cleanser. For individual pimples, put a drop of jasmine oil on your fingertip or a cotton swab and apply it directly on the pimple. Jasmine’s antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties will clear it up quickly.

10. Reduce Scars and Stretchmarks

Massage jasmine oil into scars and stretchmarks. You will be amazed at how quickly they fade. You can use it straight or mix it into a carrier oil like argan, jojoba, sweet almond or coconut.

11. Treat Eczema and Dermatitis

Use jasmine oil to clear up eczema and dermatitis. Its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties will give quick relief from these uncomfortable skin conditions.

*As with any type of oil, some people are allergic to jasmine. Do a quick allergy test. Dab a drop on your skin and wait a few hours to see if you are allergic.*

12. Relieve Stress

Practice jasmine oil aromatherapy to relieve stress. Just add 2 to 3 drops of oil to your diffuser and run it for 30 to 60 minutes for quick, soothing relief.

13. Calm Anxiety

Reduce anxiety with jasmine essential oil. Run your diffuser for 30 to 60 minutes when you feel your anxiety level rising. For fast relief, just take a few deep inhales of jasmine EO vapor directly from the bottle. You can also dab a drop of jasmine oil on your wrists and chest like perfume. Its calming properties will be absorbed through your skin. If you begin to feel especially anxious about something, smell your wrists for quick, inconspicuous anxiety relief.

14. Lift Your Spirits

Take a few deep breathes of jasmine essential oil to improve your mood naturally. Put a few drops in your diffuser and run it for 30 to 60 minutes to lift your spirits, and those of anyone else who enters the room. Run your diffuser at work, if you can, to put your co-workers in a better mood. Wearing a few drops of jasmine oil as perfume has the same affect. Using unscented hand lotion that contains a few drops of jasmine will also work.

15. Improve Concentration

Use jasmine EO to improve your ability to focus and concentrate. Put it in a diffuser, wear it as perfume or inhale the vapors directly from the bottle 15 to 30 minutes before an important meeting or test.

16. Reduce Premenstrual Syndrome

Apply a jasmine oil blend to your abdomen and lower back to relieve PMS symptoms and cramps. If you have a 100% jasmine absolute oil, mix a few drops into 1 tablespoon of a carrier oil. Massage the blend deeply into your abdominal area and back for quick relief. Begin using it when you first notice symptoms.

You can use it several times a day until symptoms subside. It will also help relieve irritability and mood swings. You might also want to try just taking a few minutes each day for some soothing jasmine meditation. Just put 1 to 2 drops of the oil in the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, apply the oil to your pressure points and upper abdomen then inhale the vapors from your hands. It is very rejuvenating.

17. Relieve Postpartum Symptoms

Practice jasmine essential oil aromatherapy for 30 to 60 minutes several times a day to help get your hormones regulated after having a baby. It will relieve anxiety, boost your energy levels and lift your spirits. Apply the PMS blend to sore abdominal and back muscles for quick relief. You can also fade stretch marks. If you are breastfeeding, wait until after the baby is weaned before you begin using jasmine oil.

*Even though jasmine oil has been used in the past to facilitate labor and breastmilk production, do not use it if you are pregnant or nursing. It hasn’t been thoroughly tested.*

18. Reduce Menopause Symptoms

Use jasmine essential oil to balance your hormone levels during menopause and get relief from menopausal symptoms. Practice aromatherapy several times a day or put a few drops into a carrier oil or lotion and massage it into your abdomen and back. Actually, you can apply it as an all-over body lotion, if you like. There is a lovely blend for this that includes 1 drop each of jasmine and angelica, 2 drops clary sage, 5 drops geranium and 6 drops lemon essential oil.

19. Increase Your Libido

Use jasmine essential oil to increase your libido. Blend a few drops into a teaspoon of carrier oil for a sensual massage oil. You can also get these benefits from jasmine oil aromatherapy. Try running your diffuser with 2 to 3 drops of jasmine oil during a romantic, candlelit dinner.

20. Relieve Insomnia

Practice jasmine oil aromatherapy 30 to 60 minutes before you go to bed. Its calming, sedative properties will relax you so you can fall asleep more quickly and sleep more soundly. An all-over jasmine/carrier oil blend massage or even a warm bath with 5 to 10 drops of jasmine oil in the water also works well. You can include a few drops of lavender or frankincense essential oil in your jasmine/carrier oil blend for additional benefits.

21. Fight Chronic Fatigue

Use jasmine essential oil to get relief from chronic fatigue syndrome. Getting a good night’s sleep is one of the most important steps to alleviating this condition. Jasmine oil will help you get the sleep you need and provide soothing relaxation and stress relief.
