23 Amazing Uses of Cinnamon Oil

Essential oils are incredibly useful, natural remedies that I feel need to be utilized more in our everyday lives. Cinnamon oil, for example, has been used for thousands of years. According to the bible, it was used as an anointing oil ingredient. In more recent times, cinnamon oil has been clinically tested and proven to have some very important medicinal properties.

It boosts the immune system, contains a huge concentration of antioxidants, and has antiviral, anti-diabetic, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and antiplatelet properties. Cinnamon oil is also a very effective anti-parasitic. Cinnamon bark oil and cinnamon leaf oil are both readily available. Cinnamon bark oil is generally more expensive and potent than the leaf oil but they are both extremely useful.

1. Disinfect Your Home

Add a few drops of cinnamon essential oil to a gallon of water and use it to clean your entire home. It will kill bacteria and viruses. You can add a few drops of orange or tangerine essential oil, too, to enhance the fragrance and help kill fungal spores. Clean your whole house and everything in it with this disinfecting solution. You can even clean your shoes with it.

2. Remove Bacteria and Viruses from the Air

Put 1 to 2 drops of cinnamon essential oil into a vaporizer or diffuser. The vapors make your home smell wonderful and help clear harmful bacteria and viruses from the air you breathe. Turn off the vaporizer or diffuser after 30 to 45 minutes then crack a window to let the air clear. You should not breathe it for more than 60 minutes.

3. Fight Bacterial Infections

Use a combination of essential oils to help your body fight bacterial infections. Dr. Josh Axe suggests mixing 1 drop each of oregano essential oil, ginger essential oil, peppermint essential oil, grapefruit essential oil, cinnamon essential oil and thyme essential oil into 1/2 cup of water and drinking the mixture. Dr. Axe goes on to say, “It’s important that you’re certain that the oils you’re using are pure and approved for ingestion.” Many manufacturers add other ingredients to essential oils. Make sure the oils are pure, approved for ingestion and approved by your physician, especially if you are already being treated by a doctor.

4. Fight External Bacterial Infections and Rashes

Add 1 to 2 drops of cinnamon essential oil into a couple tablespoons of coconut oil for a bacteria-fighting, moisturizing mixture.

**Caution – cinnamon essential oil can irritate skin and/or cause an allergic reaction. Test topical applications on a small patch of skin and wait a day.**

5. Cleanse Your Face

Clear up acne and reduce or eliminate bacteria, inflammation, rashes and swelling with a honey/cinnamon oil face wash. Combine 1 tablespoon coconut oil with 3 tablespoons of raw honey, mix in 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, 20 drops of cinnamon oil and the contents of 2 live probiotic capsules. Use a blender or mixer to thoroughly combine the ingredients. Apply a small amount to your face, rub it around gently then rinse with warm water. You can store it in a tightly sealed bottle or small container in a cool area.

6. Combat Athletes Foot and Foot Odor

Put a drop of cinnamon oil into a container of warm water that is large enough for your feet. Soak your feet until the water begins to cool. This will help control athletes foot and foot odor.

7. Control Your Blood Sugar and Insulin Release

Use cinnamon essential oil to reduce blood sugar spikes and insulin levels. Cinnamon helps your body maintain stable blood sugar levels. It also helps prevent overeating, cravings for sweets, moodiness and chronic fatigue. Simply inhaling it will help. Be sure to talk to your doctor before you begin using cinnamon essential oil. Add cinnamon essential oil to your diffuser, vaporizer or even a pan of boiling water to alleviate a headache or prevent one. Stand, sit or lay down near the diffuser or vaporizer and inhale the vapors for 30 to 45 minutes. The cinnamon oil will expand your blood vessels, improving your circulation and alleviating your headache pain. Limit use to 45 minutes, though, then open a window and get some fresh air.

9. Boost your Weight-loss Efforts

Due to cinnamon essential oil’s ability to help stabilize blood sugar levels, it can help you lose weight. It also adds great flavors which can turn healthy foods into a tasty treat. Add 1 to 2 drops of pure cinnamon essential oil to oatmeal, tea, fruit, smoothies or baked goods. Use it once or twice a day.

10. Reduce Inflammation in Achy Joints

Use the cinnamon essential oil/coconut oil mixture to soothe inflamed, achy joints and warm them after you’ve been out in the cold. Just a couple drops in a couple tablespoons of coconut oil will do the trick.

Use the sore throat remedy to help clear out your sinuses. Just inhale the vapors that rise from the cup in between sips. They will reduce the inflammation in your sinuses so the mucous can drain more freely.

13. Brush your Teeth with Homemade Toothpaste

Mix 1 drop of cinnamon essential oil, peppermint essential oil and 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda thoroughly into a teaspoon of Coconut oil and brush your teeth with it. You will have a wonderful antimicrobial, antibacterial, plaque-fighting, breath-freshening natural toothpaste.

14. Improve your Heart Health

Add 1 to 2 drops of cinnamon oil to your hot cup of tea or food or inhale its vapors for 30 to 45 minutes a day to help improve your heart health. Cinnamon essential oil helps reduce plaque buildup so your arteries can produce nitric oxide more efficiently. This helps reduce the likelihood of the development of atherosclerosis and improves circulation.

15. Relieve Toothache

Put 1 to 2 drops of cinnamon essential oil on a cotton ball or gauze square. Place the cotton ball or gauze on your sore tooth and gently bite down to hold it in place. Your toothache should quickly subside.

Mix 1 to 2 drops of cinnamon essential oil into 1 tablespoon of coconut oil or olive oil. Massage your abdomen with the oil mixture for 5 minutes once or twice a day. It will help relieve gastric distress and alleviate discomfort from inflammatory conditions.
